Lipotrim

Lipotrim involves the use of nutrient-complete formula total food replacement products, developed in Britain by qualified nutritionists and experts in weight management, and proven to be safe and effective in helping you lose weight.

The unique foods keep you healthy whilst losing weight by providing the full range of nutrients your body needs for a normal, active life.

Lipotrim started out in 1987 as a GP programme but was extended to pharmacy to make it more accessible to overweight and obese people who were serious about wanting to lose weight.

When you join the programme, your pharmacist will give you weekly support to help you reach your desired weight.

Lipotrim Pharmacy Programme

 

If you are overweight and are serious about losing weight, the Lipotrim Pharmacy Programme could help you reach your goal, knowing you have a highly trained healthcare professional on hand for information, advice and encouragement.

• You need to be overweight and serious about losing it - there are a few medical restrictions so you will need to fill out a medical screening form at the pharmacy to make sure the programme is suitable for you.

• If you are accepted for the programme, you will have to attend the pharmacy weekly for weight measurements and, where possible at the pharmacy, a urine test to measure ketones. The pharmacy is also where you will pick up weekly supplies of Lipotrim products.

• An essential short video/DVD and written materials are available to assist you on the programme.

• This programme is pharmacy-based and run by the pharmacist. It is not available for over the counter sale or mail order.

 

Lipotrim is a reliable, maximum rate weight loss programme that was introduced into pharmacies in 2000 after more than 13 years in GP surgeries.

Pharmacists are ideally placed to help you manage your weight as they already provide many health services to customers, including stop smoking services, blood pressure and cholesterol measurements and general advice on nutrition and healthy living. Pharmacists also know when a weight problem can be managed in the pharmacy and when there is a medical problem that needs co-operation with the doctor.

The programme involves using Lipotrim Total Food Replacement formulas in place of your regular meals and weekly visits to your pharmacy to monitor your progress.

Each visit, the pharmacy will measure your weight, carry out a urine test (where possible) to measure ketones to check your compliance and adequacy of your fluid intake and give you the support and encouragement you need to stick to the programme. You will also be using the pharmacy visits to pick up your weekly supply of Lipotrim foods.

Once you reach your desired weight or are ready to stop, the pharmacy will help you switch back to eating ordinary food and introduce you toLipotrim Maintenance products to help you maintain your new weight.

Lipotrim Total Food Replacement products are low in calories but nutritionally complete, so they will keep you healthy, well nourished and comfortable while you lose your excess weight.

Lipotrim products are only available to buy from pharmacies participating in the Pharmacy Programme and the weekly cost is generally less than the cost of ordinary food bills.

 

Different sized products are available for men and women. The range comprises:

• Drinks - vanilla, strawberry or chocolate (vanilla and chocolate flavours can also be prepared as a mousse instead of a drink)

• Chicken soup

• Flapjacks - coconut or peanut butter flavours (both varieties contain peanuts)

 

To help you decide if Lipotrim is right for you, speak to the pharmacist at a participating pharmacy (see below) who will be able to supply you with more information and a video to watch. The pharmacist can also give you a medical screening form to fill out to check that the programme is suitable for you.

If you have certain medical conditions you may have to see your GP before joining the pharmacy programme, or the pharmacist may recommend you join the Lipotrim GP Programme instead.

It is essential for you to be committed to the strict pharmacy programme. Under certain conditions, you may prefer to try the Lipotrim Maintenance Programme.

If you are serious about losing weight, Lipotrim can help you achieve that, but you will need to follow the programme strictly.

When you follow the programme properly you should be able to lose about a stone a month (women) or a stone and a half (men).

However, if you do not follow the programme strictly and fail to visit the pharmacy each week, the pharmacist may ask you to withdraw from the programme and try an alternative approach, such as the Maintenance Programme.
